SAN DIEGO -- If this month is going to be a 2015 audition for Randall Delgado, the Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander is off to a good start. Delgado and four relievers combined on a four-hitter, and A.J. Pollock had three hits to help the Diamondbacks beat the San Diego Padres 5-1 Thursday night. Delgados outing marked the start of the Diamondbacks going to a six-man rotation. Delgado (3-3) started on April 4 and 10, and then made 37 appearances as a reliever. He came into the game with a 5.85 ERA and held San Diego to two hits in five scoreless innings. He struck out two and walked none. "First of all, we are happy for the win. I tried to be calm and tried to make quality pitches," Delgado said. "I felt good today. Good defence behind me. I didnt try to do much." Delgado threw 61 pitches. It was his first career start without allowing a run or walk. "I think it was the first one in a long time. I felt good about what I did today," he said. Going to a six-man rotation allows the Diamondbacks to reduce the number of innings for some of their young pitchers and gives others, like Delgado, a chance to win a job for next year. "Pretty efficient. He just really featured all of his pitches," manager Kirk Gibson said. "Real good performance." The Diamondbacks won for the fourth time in seven games, including the final two of this four-game series in which they outscored the Padres 11-2. Ian Kennedy (10-12) had a miserable night against his former team, allowing four runs and 10 hits in 5 1-3 innings while striking out two and walking two. Kennedy threw 65 pitches through three innings, falling behind 4-0. He allowed five hits in the three-run second, including RBI base hits by Didi Gregorius and Ender Inciarte. Another run scored on rookie third baseman Cory Spangenbergs throwing error. "I was leaking stuff over the plate early on," Kennedy said. "Made some tough pitches and they put some balls in play that allowed those runs to score in the second inning. "For the most part, early on, I didnt have my best command early in the counts," he said. "I made tough pitches, but overall I didnt have my command. My curveball wasnt that sharp or my changeup, and I didnt have command of my fastball early on." Miguel Montero added an RBI single in the third, and Aaron Hill had an RBI double off Blaine Boyer in the seventh. San Diego loaded the bases with no outs in the eighth against Matt Stites and scored just one run. Oliver Perez came on and threw a wild pitch that brought in San Diegos only run, and then struck out the side. HOT CORNER Arizonas Aaron Hill started at third base for the first time since his rookie season of 2005 with Toronto. He made a great play in the fifth, laying out to make a backhanded catch of Rene Riveras liner. "It was fun. I was hoping for a little more action, but I guess that means our pitchers were doing a great job," he said. Hill is at third so the Diamondbacks can see if Didi Gregorius and Chris Owings is how they want to go up the middle next year. DIAMONDBACKS NUMBERS Arizona has allowed three runs or fewer in eight straight games, the clubs longest streak since doing so in nine consecutive games from Sept. 25, 2005, to April 5, 2006. The Diamondbacks also won their first season series against San Diego since 2011, going 12-7. TRAINERS ROOM Diamondbacks: Gibson on the return Wednesday night of RHP Daniel Hudson from two Tommy John surgeries: "To see him out there again was very powerful." Padres: Manager Bud Black said SS Everth Cabrera, on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring, wont make the weekend trip to Colorado but will join the team in Los Angeles and be re-evaluated there. UP NEXT Diamondbacks: Arizona buses up the freeway to face the Los Angeles Dodgers for three games, with Vidal Nuno (0-3, 3.23 ERA) scheduled to start Friday night. Padres: LHP Eric Stults (6-15, 4.56) is scheduled to start the opener of a three-game series at Colorado. Hes allowed three or fewer earned runs in 11 of his last 13 starts since June 17. Caleb Joseph Jersey . - Chelseas 1-0 win at the Etihad, spoiling Manchester Citys perfect home record continues to be the talking point of the week. Steven Souza Diamondbacks Jersey . He was 26. Edwards, the Supercup Championship leader, was in the passenger seat as an instructor for a private training session at Queensland Raceway at Willowbank, outside Brisbane, Porsche Motorsport said. http://www.diamondbackssale.com/diamondbacks-adam-jones-jersey/ . For one, he still gets to crank the intensity to the max. "I push pretty angry. I ran pretty angry too though, but I have fun doing it," Lumsden said. Custom Arizona Diamondbacks Jerseys . -- Terry Francona likened the atmosphere at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday to a playoff game in October. Matt Andriese Diamondbacks Jersey . He wants to seize that opportunity. The trouble is, Firus has had more bumps on the road to Sochi than most. Last year, Firus had the skate of a lifetime in the short program at the Canadian championships when he landed his first triple Axel in competition and finished third in a stacked field.NEW YORK -- Hours after the players union voted Friday to accept an NFL proposal on drug policy changes that included HGH testing, the league says it is not a done deal. Player representatives to the union also voted for changes to marijuana testing, classification for amphetamines, punishment for driving under the influence, and neutral arbitration on appeals. But NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Friday in an email to The Associated Press: "There are unresolved issues. More negotiation ahead." Aiello did not specify which issues are not resolved, but called them "significant." Testing for human growth hormone was originally agreed upon in 2011, but the players have balked at the science in the testing and the appeals process for positive tests. If the proposal they voted on Friday is put into action, testing would begin for this season. The player reps also approved an increase for the threshold for positive marijuana tests. Some players have complained that the NFL threshold of 15 nanograms per millilitre is so low that anyone within the vicinity of people smoking marijuana could test positive. The threshold was increased to 35 ng/ml in the leagues proposal. On Saturday, the NFL Players Association issued a statement: "We hope to have final agreements, including effective date for players with adjusted discipline, very soon." Overall changes are retroactive for players suspended under previous policies, as well as for those in the appeal process. Those players, including Browns receiverr Josh Gordon (suspended for the season) and Broncos receiver Wes Welker (four games), are subject to standards of the new policies.dddddddddddd Their suspensions could be reduced. However, no immediate announcements were made regarding those suspensions, probably because the NFL doesnt consider anything official yet. Welker was suspended for amphetamine use in the off-season, but punishment for that is being switched from the performance enhancers policy to the substance abuse program -- except for in-season violations. A two-game suspension would be issued for a player convicted of driving under the influence. But an NFL proposal to immediately suspend a player, owner, coach, team executive or league employee for a DUI arrest was rejected by the union. The players approved arbitration for appeals under the substance abuse and the PED policies. The NFL and NFL Players Association would hire between three and five arbitrators. The league and the union also would retain independent investigators to review cases in which player confidentiality under the drug policy had been breached. Punishment for leaks could range up to $500,000 and/or termination of a job. "This is an historic moment for our players and our league," NFLPA President Eric Winston said before the NFL basically put matters on hold. "We have collectively bargained drug policies that will keep the game clean and safe, but also provide our players with an unprecedented level of fairness and transparency." ' ' 'gton Capitals 5-4 on March 31 of last season. ' ' 'o have my card back," Bettencourt said. "I feel great and Im looking forward to playing next week." Michael Putnam topped the list with $450,184. He had a 72 on Sunday to tie for 12th at 14 under. ' ' '
